Common questions about permissions, Extential, the charging meter and battery alarms.

general

Post notification permission is crucial for Glyphify to work properly. Without it, the app cannot access the Glyph interface in the background, which defeats the whole purpose of Glyphify. If the notification bothers you, you can hide it through Android's settings. But you still need to grant the permission to use Glyphify.

Use the dedicated email.

extential

No, Extential is a replacement for Essential. If you want to use Extential, you need to deactivate Essential.

Due to Android's restrictions, Glyphify cannot access conversations on your phone. As a workaround, each time you receive a message from a group chat, an entry with that group's information is created in the appropriate section of the app. So, to make a group chat appear, you first need to receive a message from it.

Glyph Progress is part of Extential. Enter Extential, tap an addressable Glyph zone (this varies by device), tap "Add app" and select the app of your choice, then toggle "Progress notifications". For Glyph Progress to work, the app must display a progress bar in its notification. If no progress bar is present, the feature will not function.

charging meter

Position your device face down on a flat surface, then wiggle it side to side. If you don't have "always on" mode and you're configuring this for the first time, connect your phone to power after turning on the charging meter.

No, Glyphify's charging meter replaces the default one. To use Glyphify's charging meter, you need to deactivate Nothing's charging meter.

battery alarms

Head into Settings, Battery alarms, tap the default sound button, choose your file. If the file contains only audio data, the default Glyph animation plays. If it's a .ogg file containing a composition, the custom Glyph animation and sound play instead. Compositions can be created with the Automatic Composer, Glyphify Studio, or any other composer app, such as Nothing's composer app or community-made ones. The alarm plays for a maximum of 5 seconds. If the composition is longer, it will be truncated.

What Glyphify does with your data.

TLDR: nothing leaves your device, everything is done locally.

This privacy policy applies to the Glyphify app ("Application") for mobile devices, created by Fr4nKB ("Service Provider") as a commercial service. This service is intended for use "as is."

What information does the Application obtain, and how is it used?

The Application does not obtain any information when installed or used, except for crash logs, which are shared only with the user's consent. Registration is not required to use the Application.

Use of specific permissions

READ_CONTACTS: used only to let the user select contacts for features such as personalized persistent Glyph notifications (Extential) or quick call functionality (Glyph Dial toy). The Application does not upload or share contact data; it is accessed locally on the device, only for the stated purpose.
CALL_PHONE: allows the Application to initiate a phone call directly when the user explicitly requests it (for example, via the Glyph Dial toy). The Application does not make calls without user action.
SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW: required to display certain overlays (for example, the Glyph Dial toy). Used solely to provide the intended functionality, not for advertising or tracking.
QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES: used to identify installed applications for the Extential feature. Used strictly to provide functionality within the Application, not to collect or share information about installed apps.
ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION: used to enable location-based features that require periodic location access even when the Application is not in the foreground (for example, Glyph Minimap). Location data is processed only on the device and is never uploaded, stored, or shared. This permission is used strictly to provide the intended functionality, never for advertising or tracking.

Does the Application collect precise real-time location information?

The Application may access precise real-time location information only when you use the optional Glyph Minimap feature. This feature is entirely user-controlled and can be used or ignored at any time. Location data is processed solely on your device to provide the feature's functionality and is never uploaded, stored, or shared.

Do third parties see or have access to information obtained by the Application?

No data is shared with third parties.

What are my opt-out rights?

You can stop all collection of information by the Application by uninstalling it, using the standard uninstall process available through your mobile device or app marketplace.

Children

The Application is not used to knowingly solicit data from or market to children under the age of 13. The Service Provider does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children, and encourages children never to submit any such information through the Application. Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to monitor their children's use of the Application and to instruct them never to provide personally identifiable information without permission. If you believe a child has provided personally identifiable information to the Service Provider through the Application, contact glyphify.help@gmail.com so the necessary action can be taken. You must be at least 16 years of age to consent to the processing of your personally identifiable information in your country (in some countries, a parent or guardian may consent on your behalf).

Security

The Service Provider is committed to safeguarding the confidentiality of your information. Since the only, optional data collected by the Application is crash logs, there is no need for this data to be encrypted, as it does not contain any user's sensitive data.

Changes

This privacy policy may be updated from time to time, for any reason. The Service Provider will notify you of changes by updating this page with the new policy. You are advised to consult this page regularly, as continued use of the Application after any change constitutes acceptance of that change.

By using the Application, you consent to the processing of your information as set out in this privacy policy, now and as amended by the Service Provider.
